A hospital bill shouldn't stand between anyone and care.

In Nigeria, a single admission can wipe out a family's savings overnight. Menda turns that moment into a community effort. People fund verified medical bills, and every naira goes straight to the hospital treating the patient.

Every bill is confirmed with the treating hospital before a campaign can go live.

Direct

Funds are paid into the hospital's account, never to the patient or the family.

Transparent

Donors follow the running total and see exactly what their money covers.

The problem we are solving

Most Nigerians pay for healthcare out of pocket, at the worst possible moment.

When an emergency hits, families turn to scattered WhatsApp appeals and account numbers with no way to prove the bill is real. Donors want to help but cannot tell what is genuine. Hospitals wait to be paid. Menda fixes the trust gap in the middle.

Unverified appeals

Screenshots and account numbers circulate with nothing tying them to a real patient or bill.

Money that goes astray

Cash sent to individuals can be diverted, and no one can see where it landed.

Hospitals left waiting

Treatment stalls while families scramble, even when the goodwill to help exists.

How it works

From bill to bedside, verified end to end

A patient starts a campaign

They enter their hospital and their verified bill in the Menda app. Real hospitals only, chosen from a list, never free text.

The hospital verifies it

Hospital staff confirm the patient and the bill on the Menda dashboard in seconds.

The community funds it

The campaign goes live and donations are paid straight into the hospital's account.

For donors and patients

Who we are
Everyone here has been sent a message asking for help with a hospital bill, with an account number and no way to know if any of it was real. So we built the checking in. The hospital confirms the bill before anyone can give, and the money is paid to that hospital, never to a person.

Questions, answered

Does Menda take a cut of the bill?

Menda takes 3% of what a campaign raised, once, when the money is sent to the hospital. A campaign that never pays out is charged nothing. The fee comes out of what was raised rather than being added to the bill, so a campaign that reaches its target sends the hospital 97% of it and the patient settles the last 3% with the hospital directly. Every patient is shown that figure against their own bill before they start, and it is on every campaign page as it happens.

How do I know a campaign is real?

Every campaign is confirmed with the treating hospital before it can go live, and funds are released to the hospital rather than to an individual.

Where does my donation go?

Straight into the verified hospital's account for the patient's care. You receive a receipt for every gift.

What if a campaign does not reach its target?

Whatever it raised still goes to the hospital and is credited against that patient's bill. Nothing is held back and nothing is returned because a target was missed. The rest of the bill stays what it always was, something the patient settles with the hospital directly. We can pay the hospital once a campaign reaches 40% of the bill, rather than making them wait for 100%.

Can any hospital join?

Hospitals are vetted and onboarded by our team. If you run a hospital, request a demo below and we will guide you through it.
